Mission

The Chinese program is committed to provide excellence in Chinese language instructions.  Our goal is to enable students to learn practical communication skills and develop an appreciation for the Chinese language and culture.

Course Description:

The class is especially designed for children who desire to learn Chinese as a second language. The class takes a new approach by combining the use of videos, computer CDs, and children’s rhyming poems and songs.

The videos that will be used in this course were published by the Beijing Language University (#1 university that teaches foreign students to learn Chinese in China). This series was designed to allow foreign speakers to rapidly learn common phrases essential to Chinese conversation using a variety of situations. New words and phrases that are introduced after each dialogue are reviewed.

The CDs along the colorful textbooks are published by Ji Nan University. They provide an excellent opportunity for children to read Chinese word by word with the help of English translation and Chinese pin yin.  This helps reinforce what they learn by doing online exercises.

The 1 ½ hour classes will roughly follow along these guidelines:

Daily greeting                        10 min

Homework review                  10 min
